Hi! As you may have already deduced, my name is Amy. As you can see from this picture of me as a button-nosed, chocolate-covered child, I’ve always loved food, cooking, and especially baking. In fact, I love food a little too much…which is why I made a decision a few years ago to change how I look at food and nutrition and clean up my act. Now, three years and 50 pounds later, I believe it’s all about balance.
.
On this blog, you’ll find food for real life. That means I’m serving up recipes for when you’re trying to feel a little better about what you eat, for when you want to eat well but don’t want to get a wicked food hangover (complete with crushing guilt), or even for those special occasions when you just want to get smashed on sugar. There’s a little bit of everything, but mostly, you’ll find wholesome, simple everyday recipes, and lightened-up alternatives to some of my favorite sweet treats.
.
In keeping with this philosophy, I try to post nutrition facts* for every recipe I post…except for my extra-decadent “Sunday Sweets” series because, let’s be honest, nobody wants to know how many hours you’ll need to log on the treadmill to work off something like this insanity. Sometimes we all need to indulge.
.
These days, I’m 20-something years older than I was in that photo, but I’m still pretty button-nosed and occasionally chocolate-covered. I live in Chicago with my boyfriend and cat. Follow me on Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, and Pinterest for more of my adventures in food and life.
*Please note: I am not a nutritionist, so all nutrition facts are estimated based on the brands, varieties, and amounts of ingredients I use, and should not be treated as scientific fact.

I firmly believe you don’t mess with perfection and Amy is far more qualified to lead you through this process than I am, so today’s post is going to be strictly photos from my cake pop adventure.
